Mint Vintage Roland D-110 LA Synthesizer w/ PG-10 Programmer SN 922305

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated. Roland D-110 synthesizer module patches and tunes

Published on Jul 23, 2019 Synthcomp

"Here's a little demo of the Roland D-110 with mostly custom and some factory sounds. All sounds are from the D-110. I've also used a Korg TR synth to make this demo but only as an effect processor, so it doesn't appear in the video."

via this auction

"The Roland D-110 has been described by some as 'a poor man's D-50' though I don't think that does it justice.

As a current, longtime D-50 and D-70 owner and tinkerer, I'm very familiar with their sound, and while the D-110 shares the same LA (Linear Arithmetic) synthesis architecture of it's 1st Gen D-50 and 2nd Gen D-70 siblings, it's a completely different animal capable of sounds that would be essentially impossible for the D-50 or D-70 to achieve without multiple D-50s/D-70s. That’s not to imply that the D-110 is "better," just different and in certain aspects more customizable and complex when given proper attention.

CASIO PT-7 w/ Original Box

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

2nd one this month

"Near Mint Condition Casio PT-7 with Original Box, Operation Manual and Brand New Batteries Included (instrument with tiny polyphonic touch sensor keypad & analogue rhythm)

This is clearly one of the most bizarre and innovative instruments created by Casio, because this tiny thing has a detachable keyboard with 29 soft touch foil keys, and this is not just a monophonic toy tablehooter but a real 8 note(!) polyphonic instrument with analogue rhythm and a small but high quality loudspeaker that makes a very respectable organ sound.

This strange Casio invention permits special play techniques with very rapid glissandos and was one of the forgotten milestones in the struggle of overcoming the clumsy piano key relic on electronic consumer instruments.

Moog 'Ivy' Toxic Little Phatty Stage II SN 10897 w/ Original Box

"This is 'ivy', she's an emerald "Toxic" little phatty with attitude.
Serial# 10897 , #26 of 30 made with CV-out mod. (30 Non-CV were also made)
A rare edition of this synth, the green is very eye catching.

Worth noting: I pay attention to details and I noticed the side end panels do not match. One is a darker hard black, and the other a softer lighter black (see last two photos side by side and you'l see it too. (I don't know why, it came this way when i bought it 2nd hand)"

An Update on Black Corporation's DECKARD'S DREAM - 2nd Run of Prebuilt Units Pre-Orders Now Open

via Black Corporation

"We hope this newsletter reaches you well. We here at Black Corporation have been working hard to fill all of the orders for the first run of Deckard’s Dream DIY kits and pre-built units. Most of the DIY kits were shipped in mid-October and we are already seeing some enthusiastic builders putting the finishing touches on their projects.

The first run of built Deckard’s Dream units will start shipping this week. We are looking forward to getting them to their new owners and hearing all of the great things they are used for. It has been a major learning experience, but we have managed to streamline some of the process do things more smoothly moving forward. We also had made many software improvements recently, adding extended EG and LFO speeds and microtuning features.

We have been receiving inquiries as to when the second run would be, so we are happy to announce that we are now accepting pre-orders, expecting to ship in February. They will also be $3749, and just as we did in the first run, we will accept preorders with a deposit of $1199 until December 1, 2017 (after which, we will not be able to accept cancellations or refunds). We will then request a final payment of $2550, the balance, when the units are ready to ship. This includes free shipping by Japan Post Priority International.

Please preorder here.

We still have a few DIY kits in stock and will have the full build guide available shortly for those who have been reluctant to emerge into the project.

Unfortunately, these efforts did require us to take some attention away from our upcoming Expander unit, but we are now fully focused on finalizing it.

Stay tuned for more updates,
Black Corporation"

An Interview with Barry Schrader

Hi everyone! As you know Barry Schrader will be giving his farewell concert at CalArts on September 26. The following is the beginning of my interview with him. I opted to post the questions and answers as they come in.  New QAs will get a new post so you do not miss them and they will be added to this post so we have one central post for the full interview. This should make it easier for all of us to consume in our busy lives, and it will allow you to send in any questions that may come to mind during the interview process.  If you have anything you'd like to ask Barry, feel free to send it in to matrixsynth@gmail.com.  This is a rare opportunity for us to get insight on a significant bit of synthesizer history, specifically with early Buchla systems, and I'd like to thank Barry for this opportunity. Thank you Barry!

Rare Vintage Gleeman Pentaphonic Analog Synthesizer - One of 50 Made

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"What can I say? Here is the rarest of the rare Gleeman. Only around 50 made. Rare does not make a synth "good" it just makes it rare. If you ask around you will find that the Gleeman sounds incredible. I have owned two in my life. This is the 2nd. Both in black. They also come in clear, but those are even more rare, but who cares about "rare" they sound incredible and a ton of attention to detail went into their manufacture. The keyboard action feels great, the controls are intuitive. I purchased this directly from the man himself in his garage. It is one of the first two made (I believe).."

All Connected 2nd Event to Feature Kassel Jaeger and the Coupigny Modular

via Ancienne Belgique where you'll find full details.

"Kassel Jaeger is a Swiss-French composer about whom very little is known. He is a member of the Groupes de Recherches Musicales (GRM) in Paris and has already released albums on Editions Mego, Senufo Editions and Unfathomless.

In Huis 23, Kassel Jaeger will present an evening dedicated to INA-GRM, with particular attention for the Coupigny modular synth. This unique, legendary synthesizer, there is only one in existence, was built in 1966 by Francis Coupigny. It was originally a prototype of the synth that was integrated into the GRM Studio in the late sixties. Almost every composer of any significance in musique concrète or electro-acoustic music has used the instrument in their compositions, Parmegiani, Bayle, Berio, Schaeffer,…

The synth itself can unfortunately no longer leave the GRM studios - as it is too unique, too fragile and too valuable - but Kassel Jaeger has found a solution.

The first part consists of a composition built up out of Coupigny synth sounds that will be presented in quadrophny. Then there will be a piece whereby a diffusion is screened upon a projection of the front panel of the synth.

Afterwards there will be an informal chat and Q&A with Kassel Jaeger about the famous synth, the GRM, his work,…

another demo of the rock band 3 pro squier midi output

YouTube Uploaded by hewstigator on Mar 8, 2011
Follow-up to this post.
"OK after that first video i realized i hadn't taken advantage of two key features of the rock band 3 squier guitar so here is another demo:

because each string of the guitar transmits on a different channel, you can assign each one to a different instrument. (imagine 6 fat monophonic synths assigned to each string!). here, in the first track (the large video) the top two (thickest) strings are assigned to an acoustic bass, and the lower four (thinner) strings are assigned to a modular lead on my beloved mattson mini modular analog synth... (because i was not feeling very coordinated, i am only playing the 1st, 2nd, and 4th strings though)...

the inset video is all of the strings assigned to control a lead patch on the mattson modular synth, but this time i have enabled the pitch bend - i said before that the guitar did not detect any "string vibrato" you may give it.. well, if you enable pitch bend, and set the max bend depth to one half step (it is very sensitive), then if you wobble your hand to give the note vibrato, the guitar will sense your hand shaking the guitar and actually output a useable vibrato via pitch bend... so that is what you want to pay attention to in the inset...

i think, if i recall correctly, the large video lead is the mattson + a VCO from the moogerfooger freqbox, and the inset is the mattson + moogerfooger ring modulation...

finally, a close listen to the bass line track will reveal that sometimes each finger-pluck sends a bunch of note-ons which is a little muddy... i think that this would not happen if i were wearing "finger picks", but i didn't have any on hand at the time!

also, sorry about the pre-mature fade-out, my android phone randomly decided to stop recording the large video prematurely..."
